The ATS Group participated in our annual Habitat for Humanity of Chester County’s (HfHCC) build this past Saturday, June 16th. HfHCC’s vision is simple: “A world where everyone has a decent place to live.” Habitat for Humanity of Chester County’s goals are summarized by our formal mission statement which reads: “Providing basic, well-built, affordable, owner-occupied housing with God’s people in need – in a way that builds hope, dignity, and independence, develops partnerships, encourages community, involves Christians and others of goodwill and cooperates with other organizations so that God’s love is shared and celebrated.”
Members of the ATS and Galileo Performance Explorer family came out to show their support and help others in the community where many of them not only work but also live.
Habitat for Humanity of Chester County builds homes for low-income families in Chester County. We give a hand up, not a handout, so our houses are not free! Each home is sold to a hard-working, low-income family using a no-interest 30-year mortgage for the full purchase price of the home. Homeowners’ mortgage payments, are recylced back into our construction fund to build more houses.Since 1989, volunteers have built or renovated over 140 homes for low-income families in need of decent, affordable housing.
About HfHCC
HfHCC began operations in 1986 as a unit of the Greater Philadelphia Area Habitat for Humanity, and became a separate affiliate in 1989 shortly after completing construction of its first home. Habitat is led and sustained by volunteers of all faiths, and it serves low-income families without respect to race, gender, culture, religion or familial status.
HfHCC’s program serves those who would not be able to afford a mortgage by conventional means. Each home is sold to a low-income family using an HfHCC no-interest 30-year mortgage for the full purchase price of the home. Habitat homeowners are carefully selected based upon three criteria: the need for decent, affordable housing, the ability to repay the mortgage loan and the willingness to partner with Habitat by participating in their sweat equity program.
